December 4, 2006 at 4:07 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentBeen to Denver during the weekend for the rocky mountain show promoted by Jeff Taylor. I was freezing in LA, now I was freezing even more in the snow…Had the heater on 100 degrees in my hotel room and didn’t want to leave. Had to double pant and double sweater myself. Still cold…
Now I’m back in LA: just got back from my last workout for this week. Shoulders. I was not in a good mood. But it turned out to be a very productive workout.
One of the most frequent questions I get is: why don’t you have cheat meals or cheat days?
My reply to that you might find boring and yes, I agree, diet wise I’m pretty boring!
You see, I have been practicing discipline and perseverance for so long I have forgotten the flavor sensation of any non diet foods. I also love the food I do eat so I don’t feel deprived. It’s not that I don’t let myself go eat whatever I want, I just choose not to follow my occasional cravings. I know they go away after a while and every time I don’t give in I get stronger. I can look at and smell delicious food without having to eat it. I know it will never be as good as I think, that’s a fact.
I also feel a repulsion towards the whole “you got to have a sweet tooth”, “you’re not sane if you don’t eat candy”. We live in a society where every day is supposed to be a eating party, a fantastic food experience. Everywhere advertisement tries to tell you “you need to satisfy those cravings, it’s good for you….”. This society makes people like myself who say no to all that so called delicious food to seem like weird fanatics.
I have a strong need to treat my body as well as I can since I put it through all this extreme training, day in and day out. when I see obese, coughing, high blood pressure male shuttle drivers I get angry: I feel they have a duty to take care of themselves since they are driving around people on the road…What if their hearts just quit all the sudden? And it doesn’t ease my mind when I see them stuff themselves with a pizza in between their work hours….
well, we all pick our fights…
